First Aid at Work

This course is relevant to any person with duties, or may potentially hold duties as a first aider under the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.  Chefs, bar staff, receptionists and night porters are commonly well placed to administer First Aid.

Course duration: 20 Hours contact
Validity: 3 Years

Course Content:
On completion of training, successful candidates will be well practiced and assessed in:

  • Suspected Heart Attach and Cardiac Arrest
  • Choking
  • Burns and Scalds
  • Eyes and injuries
  • Poisoning
  • Bleeding
  • Suspected Fractures and Joint Injuries
  • Recognise symptoms of some common medical conditions and provide appropriate first aid
  • Making appropriate notes and being aware of RIDDOR regulations 1995.

 

Completion:
On successful completion of the course and final assessment, the delegate will receive the SQA approved, nationally recognised ‘Emergency First Aid at Work Certificate’, and the ‘Hotel and Kitchen Emergency First Aid’ Certificate. These are valid for 3 years, however the HSE recommends that first aiders undertake annual first aid update training. All delegates also receive a first aid manual.
