Personal Licence Holders Refresher

In terms of section 87 of the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005 ALL Personal Licence Holders must carry out mandatory refresher training every 5 years prior to the expiry date on their licence.

Failure to ensure that this training is completed could be fatal to your business.  You cannot operate licenced premises unless the premises manager has a valid licence.

Your refresher training must be completed within 5 years from the issue date on your Personal Licence.  You then have 3 months to submit the evidence of training to the Licensing Board to whom you originally applied for your licence.

If you don't complete your refresher training in time, the licensing board will revoke your licence and you will have to re-apply for your licence! Don't let it happen to you.

 

  • Course content for a half day course is specified by the Scottish Government and includes pre-course and follow up home study.

 

  • 40 question multiple choice assessment completed at the end of the training session, awarded by City & Guilds and accredited by the SQA for the purposes of the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005.

 

  • To ensure candidates cover all topics that could be in the exam, they are invited  to attend the full day PLH course.
