Trump International Planning Application

The outline planning Application for the project was submitted to Aberdeenshire Council on the 30th of March this year. The application is in process; however the council are having to consider a much larger scale development than was initially envisaged within the Structure plan that was originally approved on the 21st December 2001.

As a member of the Aberdeen and Grampian Chamber of Commerce, Hospitality Training have been asked to support the project. The Chamber has been provided with access to the key aspects of the economic impact assessment carried out on behalf of Trump International by Deloitte.

The overall net economic impacts of the development are as follows:

  • The construction element of the development has the potential to support approximately 6230 jobs in Aberdeenshire over the whole course of the development, and 740 jobs in the rest of Scotland
  • In Gross Value Added terms the development could create as much as £205M and £262m additional economic output over the course of the build in Aberdeenshire and the whole of Scotland respectively
  • The ongoing operation could support a total of 1250 and 1440 long term jobs in Aberdeenshire and the whole of Scotland respectively
  • In GVA terms the ongoing per-annum impact is £47m and £58m for Aberdeenshire and the whole of Scotland respectively

From this information we can see that the project will have a positive effect on the economy locally, and nationally. The development will be a world class venue which will attract visitors to our region, have an impact on the volume of people coming to our area, and who will need access to facilities and services across the region, and will really put Grampian on the map!

There are concerns about the impact of this scale of development to the environment; however the Trump team have made serious commitments to protecting the environment and mitigating the impact of the development.

The Chamber urges the local business community to support the application, as the first hearing is scheduled for the 24th of August 2007. If you would like to email or send a letter of support to, Lesley Aitken, Aberdeenshire Council, Planning & Environmental Services, 45 Bridge Street, Ellon, AB41 9AA or alternatively email on: fo.planapps@aberdeenshire.gov.uk.
