Assessor and Verifier Units

The Assessor and Verifier Units are the units of competence in assessment and verification. Their purpose is to demonstrate that someone who holds them is competent to assess or verify SVQ's and other vocationally-based qualifications. They replace the Previous D-Units.

The Units are part of a wider range of Units which make up the Learning and Development Qualifications. They can stand alone as separately certified Units, or be taken as part of a larger qualification.

A1 and A2 Units

A1 - Assess Candidates using a range of methods

This Unit replaced the D32, D33 and D36. It is appropriate for:

  • Assessing Candidates against agreed standards of competence using a range of assessment methods
  • Giving candidates feedback on your assessment decisions
  • Contributing to the Internal Quality Assurance Processes

A2 - Assess Candidates' Performance through Observation

This Unit replaces the D32 and is appropriate for you if you are involved:

  • Assessing Candidates against the agreed standards
  • Planning assessments with candidates
  • Giving Feedback to candidates on your assessment decisions

Verifier Units

V1 - Conduct Internal Quality Assurance of the Assessment Process

This Unit replaced D34 Internally Verify the Assessment Process and is appropriate for you if your role involves:

  • Evaluating the Internal Assessment Process
  • Monitoring and reviewing internal assessment audit systems
  • Carrying out related Internal Verification or Moderation Activities

V2 - Conduct External Quality Assurance of the Assessment Process

This Unit replaced D35 Externally Verify the Assessment Process and is appropriate for you if your role involves:

  • Externally Evaluating the Internal Assessment Process
  • Carrying out other related external verification or moderation activities
