Our online Scottish Certificate for Personal Licence Holders (SCPLH) course is designed to provide individuals with the necessary knowledge and qualifications to apply for a personal licence to sell alcohol in Scotland. This fully accredited course covers essential topics such as the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005, legal responsibilities, the prevention of alcohol misuse, and more, all delivered through interactive online modules.

Who is this course suitable for?

This course is ideal for individuals seeking to work in roles where they will be responsible for the sale of alcohol, including bar managers, restaurant managers, pub staff, and anyone involved in the alcohol retail industry. It is also suitable for those looking to become a designated premises manager, as well as those wishing to refresh their knowledge of Scottish licensing law. Whether you're new to the industry or need a refresher, our course ensures you're well-prepared to meet the legal requirements and secure your personal licence.

On completion of the course, candidates will sit an examination for this certificate comprising of 40 multiple-choice questions.  The duration of the exam is 60 minutes.

This 2-hour mandatory Licensing Training course is designed for staff working in premises where alcohol, entertainment, or late-night refreshment is sold or provided in Scotland. It ensures that employees are fully informed about their responsibilities under the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005 and other relevant legislation.

The course covers key topics such as the legal obligations of license holders, the prevention of underage sales, how to handle intoxicated customers, and the importance of maintaining a safe environment in licensed premises.
